You can customize or create new themes using the customization section of any vizzard. Click on the "pencil" icon (on the tab "APPEREANCE" of the sidebar) to start.
Note: If you are a business admin, you can choose to create the new template under your organization (it works pretty much the same way). Click here to learn some extra features.
Once inside the customization section, you will be able to change the elements and, at the same, time see the effects of these changes on the chart.
Note: While you're in this customization section, you won't be able to edit the data.
To choose the colors you wish, click on the colored squares: a color tool will pull down. You can either pick any color using the sliders or entering the color values (you can use Hex color codes and RGB values).
Each colored square corresponds to one element with the same color in the chart. While changing the colors, you will see instantly how the chart changes.
Each theme consists of four color sections:
- Background color, i.e., the background color of the whole slide.
- Neutral background color: in the case of the chart above, it corresponds to the gray area. On the world map or multiple pies, for example, the non-highlighted areas are assigned with this color.
- Accent color: the color of details and highlights like the arrows of the growth bar chart (see image below).
- Colors: these are the colors of the bars, areas, slices, etc.
Tip: Do you need some inspiration to create your color scheme? The web is plenty of resources that are incredibly helpful! A great source of inspiration is Pinterest: just type "color palette" to discover a whole world of color moods. There are also apps that many designers use as tools for their work: Adobe Color CC , Paletton , Colordot, and Coolors, just to name a few.
For each theme, you can select a combination of up to three fonts:
- Title font: corresponds to the font of the title of your chart.
- Heading font: corresponds to headings in charts that present text information in two hierarchical levels, i.e., which require a title for categories and their descriptions. In the example below, it corresponds to the numbered elements.
- Content font: corresponds to all remaining text content in the charts, e.g., labels, values, and descriptions.
You can customize the fonts, their sizes, and colors. For each font, you can select colors by clicking on the color fields. The left color field corresponds to the color fonts should apply over a light background; and the right color field, just the other way round, corresponds to the color to apply over a dark background.
Note: If you are a business user, learn how to upload your corporate font here.
Tip: Vizzlo uses "Google Fonts." Download them to your computer, if you would like to use the same fonts throughout your presentations and documents. We recommend using only two font families: one for the title, and the other for headers and content (or one for title and headers, and the other for the content). To differentiate them, you can also use emphasis by picking a stronger color, a different size or style, e.g., bold. If you need inspiration, the tool "Font Pair" helps you pair Google Fonts.
Legend: line width and color
The legend of a chart is everything that enables and facilitates its comprehension: grids, axes, keys, etc.
To define the weight of the lines of your chart, move the slider. Pick any color by clicking on the color field and using the color tool. Depending on the chart, different elements will change the color, including text and numerical elements that belong to its legend. These elements are usually assigned with the content font type, but not with its color.
Adding your logo (branding)
Add your logo by clicking on "ADD OVERLAY" and selecting an image file from your computer.
Hover your mouse over the added image: you can drag and drop it to adjust its placement on the slide. Alternatively, you can use the position coordinates to place it as you wish. By moving the slider, you can change the size of your logo.
Apply and save
Press "Ok" to apply the new theme to your chart and "Save as…" to save it as new theme applicable to other charts.
You can also delete a theme you've previously created. If you don't want to apply any changes, just press "Cancel" (x) to leave.
Note: As a business admin, you can choose to save the new theme under your organization, making it available for your colleagues. Premium users and non-admins can only save themes under their profiles.
